It’s here! It's here! PANTONE, the global authority on all things color recently announced, drum roll please...PANTONE 15-0343 Greenery as the PANTONE Color of the Year for 2017. Watch Greenery come to life in the offical PANTONE Color of the Year 2017 video, then read on for my reaction and more.

Brava!

As seen in recent collections by Kenzo, Michael Kors, Zac Posen and Cynthia Rowley, shades of Greenery will be the "it" color palette of 2017. Here's my take on the powerful hue that’s popping up everywhere - from butter London to Gucci - with snappy descriptions courtesy of PANTONE to set the mood.

PANTONE: The fresh and zesty yellow-green shade is symbolic of new beginnings, evoking the first days of spring when nature's greens revive, restore, and renew.

AMY'S TAKE: PANOTNE's color collab with butter LONDON is in a word - refreshing - with shades of springtime that remind me to lose myself in a garden of hydrangeas, violets, snapdragons and zinnias.

PANTONE: Illustrative of flourishing foliage and the lushness of the great outdoors, the fortifying attributes of Greenery signals individuals to take a deep breath, oxygenate and reinvigorate.

AMY'S TAKE: This green glass bottle gives me life! I love how the gorgeous hue transforms it, suddenly making it seem special and alive. Plus, there's a bold elegance to a scent like this one that makes me feel polished and put together, even when I'm working from home.

PANTONE: As nature’s neutral, Greenery is a great harmonizer merging undertones of cool blues with vibrant yellows, and is a natural complement to a wide range of palettes.

AMY'S TAKE: I absolutely adore a one-of-a-kind armchair, and this little number by Haute House epitomizes Greenery. With a surprising Damask print and feminine shape, it's the perfect way to add 2017's "it" color to your home. That is, next to a fresh coat of paint or fabulous throw pillow.

PANTONE: Like the spectrum of possibilities in colorful petals and blooms paired with lush green leaves, plants and trees, Greenery provides a pop of color in accessories and footwear, or acts as a bold accent in a pattern.

AMY'S TAKE: It's safe to say Greenery is becoming even more appealing as I write this post - especially when paired with chic gold hardware as spotted on this statement-making Furla crossbody.

Want the backstory on Greenery's inspiration? The color authority reveals, "The PANTONE Color of the Year selection captures the essence of what we see taking place in our culture during a specific moment in time, serving as a reflection of a mood and an attitude on the part of the consumers. Greenery provides us with the hope we collectively yearn for amid a complex social and political landscape, and symbolizes the reconnection we seek with nature, one another and a larger purpose."

This color makes me happy. Takes me back to my childhood, when I would lay for hours upon cool, lush St. Augustine grass, under big oak trees, with trails of ivy growing up to the sky. I don't know if it was then that I decided green was my favorite color but I do know it is my first go to color of choice. I once had an art teacher explain to me that there are more shades of green than any other color. It is a natural that has been under used for many years. Funny how a color can evoke memories. As I sit here day dreaming of a simpler time, I hear Paul Simon's Kodachrome ringing in my head. Green.... glad it is coming back big for 2017!
