hen I was a kid I toured homes with Mom on Sundays. Marveled at the pattern on my great grandmother’s bathroom floors. Took inventory of how my aunt would position a chinoiserie vase "just so." It was only a matter of time before I found myself immersed in all things home on a daily basis - specifically other people's homes - as a luxury real estate writer and public relations director for the leading luxury real estate brand in the country.

I've learned that every home has a story to tell. Each property a certain je ne sais quoi. When I write about homes, I try to imagine the stories behind those four walls. When it was built, what type of lifestyle was lived, who the neighbors are. Is it a place where memories are shared around the dinner table, where growing families raise their kids, where couples get out to walk their dogs? Is it suitable for a home-based business, social gatherings or elaborate entertaining?

Recently, I wrote an article on a client's active listing for Castle Rock's Village Life Magazine which I describe as, "a home where every floor is a canvas. Wide open rooms awash with light and sky, a subtle breeze that cools in the summer, crackling hearths in the winter, memories made beneath 100-year-old Ponderosa Pine."

Offered for the first time in 25 years, 48 Bantala Place holds a special place in the hearts of its owners who raised their family there. Located in Castle Pines Golf Club - a frequent stop on the PGA Tour for 21 seasons - the property next door was often rented out to pro golfers and it wasn't uncommon to find them out in the driveway playing soccer with the neighborhood kids during tournament week to blow off steam.

Beyond the home's outer patio you'll find a sloped clearing, lined on each side by scrub oak. In the winter the owners' sons improvised making it into a short ski run several times, but more often than not, it was the site of some good old fashioned tobogganing fun. Just imagine the Instagram shots - a giant cup of cocoa in hand, snowflakes falling in the background, the vintage sled and snow shoes finally put to good use.

Situated on two pristine acres, it has been the site of “Wine in the Garden” parties for the Castle Pines Village Garden Club, sit down dinners for 80 in the great room and luncheons accommodating 125 outdoors. It’s a home where events come to life and the ultimate Colorado lifestyle is lived - and it was a pleasure for me to write. Take a virtual tour of 48 Bantala Place in Castle Rock, Colorado here, and stay tuned for a sneak peek at new listings like this one from Denver to Dallas.

Cheers and happy hunting!
